Hardy Plants Guarantee

Baskets and Blooms Hardy Plant Guarantee

At Baskets and Blooms, we take great pride in the quality of our plants. We are confident that our hardy plants are healthy and fit for purpose when they leave our care. To give you peace of mind, we offer a 2/5 Year Hardy Plant Guarantee on all fully hardy trees, shrubs, and perennials.

1. What is covered?

Our guarantee applies to all “Hardy Plants” purchased at a Baskets and Blooms Plant or Garden Centre.. A hardy plant is defined as one that can survive a typical British winter outdoors without protection. This includes:

  • Ornamental Trees
  • Shrubs
  • Hardy Perennials
  • Roses
  • Conifers
  • Climbers

2. The Guarantee Period

We guarantee that these plants will successfully establish and grow, provided they are given the correct care.

  • Standard Hardy Plants: Guaranteed for 2 years from the date of purchase.
  • Specimen Trees: Guaranteed for 5 years from the date of purchase.

3. What is NOT covered?

Nature can be unpredictable, and as such, this guarantee does not extend to:

  • Non-Hardy Plants: This includes houseplants, summer bedding, annuals, bulbs, and “borderline” hardy plants (e.g., certain Palms or Mediterranean species) that may fail during extreme frost.
  • Neglect: Plants that have failed due to insufficient watering (particularly during dry spells), over-watering, or lack of proper horticultural care.
  • External Damage: Damage caused by extreme weather events (floods, hurricane-force winds), pests (rabbits, deer), or physical damage (lawnmowers, strimmers).
  • Short-lived Perennials: Species with a naturally short life expectancy (e.g., Gaura, Digitalis).
  • Sale Items: Plants purchased from our “Clearance” or “Reduced” benches are sold as-seen and are not covered.

4. How to make a claim

If you believe a plant has failed to establish within the guarantee period:

  1. Stop! Do not dig the plant up immediately. Often, a plant may simply be dormant or stressed. Please email us a photo of the plant in situ at sales@basketsnblooms.co.uk for advice first.
  2. Visit us: If we cannot resolve the issue remotely, please bring the failed plant back to the centre.
  3. Proof of Purchase: You must provide a valid receipt or a bank statement showing the transaction. We also ask that you bring the original plant label if possible.

5. Resolution

If our plant experts agree that the plant is at fault, we will:

  • Offer a free-of-charge replacement of the same plant (subject to seasonal availability).
  • If the plant is out of stock, we will issue a credit note or a gift voucher for the original purchase value.
  • Please note: We do not offer cash refunds for plants that fail after the initial 30-day statutory period.

6. Your Statutory Rights

This guarantee is provided in addition to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
